I'd like a Heineken. Don't shake it, don't stir it.

I cannot believe that for the first time, James Bond will not be asking (well, at the very least one time in the film) for his Martini; shaken, not stirred. It has been announced that our boy James will be asking for a Heineken in the latest Bond flick called Skyfall, which will be in theaters November 9, 2012. Take that as you will. Personally, I believe it is a little whorish selling out our favorite British secret agent like that. And this is coming from a guy that has never thought the whole idea of "selling out" is a bad thing. I mean, money is money and that's what people are trying to make. However, changing certain habits and/or characteristics of a character we've known and loved for so long is a bit lame. And cheap.

I'd like to share the following quote with everyone from Alexis Nasard, the chief commercial officer for Heineken:

“When two great brands like Heineken and James Bond join together, excitement is guaranteed. We are confident our activation plan will ignite the conversation with our consumers and film viewers.”

Spoken like a true salesperson. Leave the beer drinking to our favorites like Homer Simpson, Hank Hill and Al Bundy. Keep James Bond sexy. Martini, shaken not stirred.

Red State

We talk about Kevin Smith so much on here and many of you might just be getting tired of it. But we can't help it, we love the guy and we must give credit where credit is due. Just watched Red State and loved it. When I watched Kevin Smith: Burn in Hell, Smith mentions how he wanted to make movies like Quentin Tarantino. I can honestly say that he has accomplished just that with Red State. Smith's take on a horror film was awesomely gruesome. To me it felt like a mix of Death Proof and From Dusk Til Dawn (before the vampires) and I think he has achieved exactly what he wanted to do. And my goodness, a horror movie inspired by the scumbags of the Westboro Baptist church is damn near perfect.

Gorey, disturbing, unnecessary violence, fun. We can say the same exact thing about a Tarantino flick.

Possible Highlander Reboot

I always thought that the Highlander story was fantastic. The whole concept of immortals walking among us for hundreds of years and fighting each other to the death to claim "the prize" was just downright cool. Pretending the other Highlander movies besides the first one didn't happen, I often tell people that they should reboot the franchise and make another film about the origin of Connor MacLeod. Sadly, Christopher Lambert would obviously not be able to reprise his role as he is too old for it, but still, with today's technology and great cinematic minds this would make for a great movie. Finally, it seems that this idea may be seeing the light of day. Director Juan Carlos Fresnadillo may be given the opportunity to bring Connor MacLeod of the clan Macleod back to the big screen fighting immortals and choppin' heads.

However, until it happens, like the immortals, when it comes to the Highlander films there can be only one (good one), which is the original movie from 1986.

As always, for your convenience, here is a link about the reboot:
